Description

This Crock Pot Angel Chicken recipe is a creamy, comforting slow-cooked dish featuring tender boneless, skinless chicken breasts cooked in a rich sauce of cream of chicken soup, cream cheese, butter, chicken stock, and Italian dressing mix. Served over angel hair pasta, it’s an effortless, flavorful meal perfect for busy days when you want a delicious homemade dinner with minimal hands-on time.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Sauce

  • 1.5 pounds chicken breast, boneless and skinless
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped or left whole
  • 10.5 ounces cream of chicken soup
  • ¾ cup chicken stock
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 0.6 ounces Italian dressing mix (dry powdered, such as Good Seasons)

Pasta

  • 1 pound angel hair pasta

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crockpot: Spray the inside of the crockpot generously with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Add Chicken and Garlic: Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts into the crockpot. Add the garlic cloves, either chopped or whole, on top of the chicken.
  3. Soften Cream Cheese and Butter: In the microwave, gently soften the cream cheese and butter to make them easier to blend.
  4. Mix the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Then whisk in the cream of chicken soup without diluting it, followed by the dry Italian dressing mix and chicken stock. Ensure all ingredients are thoroughly combined into a creamy sauce.
  5. Combine Sauce and Chicken: Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the chicken breasts in the crockpot.
  6. Cook Slowly: Cover the crockpot and cook on low heat for 6 to 8 hours, allowing the chicken to become tender and soak up the flavors of the creamy sauce.
  7. Shred Chicken (Optional): About 30 minutes before the end of cooking, shred the chicken breasts with two forks to incorporate more fully with the sauce. Continue cooking uncovered or covered as preferred.
  8. Prepare Pasta: Just before the chicken finishes cooking, boil and cook the angel hair pasta according to package instructions. Drain well.
  9. Serve: Plate the cooked angel hair pasta and top with the creamy crockpot chicken and sauce for a comforting, hearty meal.

Notes

  • Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to three days. This recipe does not freeze well.
  • Tips: Spray the crockpot well with nonstick cooking spray or use a slow cooker liner to ease cleanup.
  • Important: Use dry powdered Italian salad dressing mix, not bottled dressing. Do not mix the powder with water; it is meant to be used dry for authentic flavor.
