Description

This Pumpkin Whipped Feta Dip offers a creamy, tangy spread that perfectly blends the saltiness of feta with the subtle sweetness of pumpkin and honey. Enhanced by fragrant thyme and a touch of black pepper, it’s a versatile appetizer that pairs wonderfully with crusty toasted bread or crunchy crackers. A perfect seasonal treat for fall gatherings or anytime you crave a unique, flavorful dip.

Ingredients

Scale

Whipped Feta

  • 8 oz block of feta cheese, drained from brine (approx. 220 grams)
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (preferably full-fat for creaminess)
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
  • 12 Tbsp honey (plus extra for serving)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (or 2 tsp fresh thyme)
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Toppings

  • Fresh thyme (or dried, if necessary)
  • Chopped walnuts (optional; raw or toasted)
  • Extra honey drizzle

Serve With

  • Crusty toasted bread (such as sourdough or baguette)
  • Crackers

Instructions

  1. Prepare Feta: Drain the feta cheese from its brine to reduce excess saltiness and moisture. This will ensure a creamy texture when whipped.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a food processor or blender, add the drained feta, Greek yogurt, pumpkin puree, honey, dried thyme, and freshly cracked black pepper.
  3. Whip the Mixture: Blend all ingredients together until smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed. Adjust sweetness by adding more honey if desired.
  4. Transfer and Chill: Spoon the whipped mixture into a serving bowl. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld and the dip firm slightly.
  5. Add Toppings and Serve: Before serving, drizzle additional honey over the top and sprinkle with fresh thyme and chopped walnuts if using. Serve alongside crusty toasted bread or crackers for dipping.

Notes

  • Use full-fat Greek yogurt to balance the tartness of feta and create a richer dip.
  • Adjust honey quantity based on preferred sweetness level.
  • To enhance texture, walnuts can be toasted lightly for added crunch and flavor.
  • Can be made a day ahead; store covered in the refrigerator.
  • Best served chilled but allow it to sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving for ideal spreading consistency.
