Scale
Base Ingredients
- 300 g sweetened condensed milk
- 100 g butter, chopped
- 200 g Cadbury Peppermint chocolate
- 250 g plain sweet biscuits, crushed (such as Arnotts Marie brand)
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 drops peppermint extract
Topping Ingredients
- 250 g milk chocolate, melted
- 5 candy canes, roughly chopped
- 1 cup red & green M&Ms
Instructions
- Prepare the Base: In a saucepan over low heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk and chopped butter. Stir continuously until the butter has melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Melt Peppermint Chocolate: Add the Cadbury Peppermint chocolate to the saucepan and stir until it has completely melted into the mixture.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Remove the saucepan from the heat and mix in the crushed plain sweet biscuits, cocoa powder, and peppermint extract. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined into a thick, crumbly mixture.
- Transfer to Tray: Line a rectangular slice tin with baking paper and press the mixture firmly and evenly into the base.
- Melt Milk Chocolate Topping: Melt the milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or using a microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently until smooth.
- Apply Topping: Pour the melted milk chocolate over the base and smooth it out evenly with a spatula.
- Decorate: While the milk chocolate is still soft, sprinkle the roughly chopped candy canes and red & green M&Ms over the top to create a festive look.
- Set: Refrigerate the slice for at least 2 hours or until fully set and firm.
- Serve: Once set, remove from the tin using the baking paper, cut into squares or slices, and enjoy your festive peppermint chocolate treat.
Notes
- This slice is best stored in the refrigerator and consumed within 3 days for optimal freshness.
- You can substitute Cadbury Peppermint chocolate with any peppermint chocolate bars if unavailable.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free biscuits instead of plain sweet biscuits.
- If you prefer a less sweet dessert, reduce the M&Ms or omit them entirely.
