Ingredients
Scale
Cherries and Soaking Liquid
- 10 ounce jar maraschino cherries with stems
- 1/4 cup Fireball cinnamon whiskey
Coating
- 5 ounces white chocolate melting wafers (from a 10-ounce Ghirardelli package)
- 1/4 cup colored sanding sugar sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare the cherries: Drain the jar of maraschino cherries, reserving 1/4 cup of the syrup. Combine the syrup with 1/4 cup Fireball cinnamon whiskey in a small bowl. Add the cherries and stems to the mixture and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to soak up the flavors.
- Melt the white chocolate: Place white chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted.
- Coat the cherries: Using a fork or skewer, dip each soaked cherry individually into the melted white chocolate ensuring an even coating. Let excess chocolate drip off.
- Apply sanding sugar: Immediately after coating, roll or sprinkle each chocolate-covered cherry with colored sanding sugar before the chocolate sets to add a festive touch and texture.
- Set the cherries: Place the coated cherries on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate until the white chocolate is firm, about 15–20 minutes.
Notes
- Use cherries with stems for easier dipping and handling.
- Soaking the cherries longer will intensify the Fireball flavor.
- White chocolate melting wafers melt smoothly and harden nicely; avoid standard white chocolate bars unless tempered properly.
- Colored sanding sugar adds both visual appeal and a slight crunch.
- Store finished cherry bombs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
