Description

This Easy Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles recipe offers a quick and flavorful stir-fry dish featuring savory ground beef in a rich, sweet and tangy Mongolian-inspired sauce served over linguine noodles. With simple ingredients like soy sauce, hoisin, ginger, and garlic, this one-pan dish comes together rapidly for a satisfying weeknight dinner garnished with green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Ingredients

Scale

Ground Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 4 tsp minced ginger
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 6 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Noodles and Garnish

  • 1 12 ounce box of linguine noodles
  • 4 green onions, diced for garnish
  • Toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Noodles: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, red pepper flakes, and black pepper until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is combined.
  3. Cook the Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Sauté Aromatics: Add the minced ginger and garlic to the beef in the pan. Stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  5. Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the beef mixture in the skillet. Stir well and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat the beef.
  6. Toss with Noodles: Add the cooked and drained linguine noodles directly into the skillet with the beef and sauce. Toss everything together until the noodles are evenly coated and heated through.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat. Plate the noodles with beef and garnish with diced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute linguine with spaghetti or any other long pasta you prefer.
  • Adjust the red pepper flakes to taste for more or less heat.
  • For extra veggies, add sliced bell peppers or snap peas during the sauté step.
  • Use lean ground beef to reduce fat content and avoid excess grease.
  • Make sure not to overcook the noodles to keep a nice bite in the dish.
