Description

Easter Bunny Bait, also known as Easter Puppy Chow, is a festive, crunchy snack mix perfect for celebrating the holiday. This sweet and salty treat combines crispy Rice Chex cereal, crunchy pretzels, colorful Easter candies, and a creamy white chocolate and peanut butter coating, all dusted with powdered sugar for a deliciously addictive finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 8 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 2 cups mini twist pretzels
  • 1/2 cup Easter M&Ms, divided
  • 1/2 cup jelly beans, divided
  • 3 cups powdered sugar

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 2 Tablespoons light olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dry mix: In a very large bowl (preferably a 20-30 cups/6-7 liter mixing bowl with a lid), combine the 8 cups of Rice Chex cereal, 2 cups of mini twist pretzels, and half of the candy—specifically 1/4 cup of Easter M&Ms and 1/4 cup of jelly beans. Set this mixture aside for now.
  2. Melt the chocolate mixture: In a medium-sized glass bowl, combine 1 cup of white chocolate chips, 1/2 cup peanut butter, and 2 tablespoons of light olive oil. Microwave the mixture for 1 minute, stirring every 30 seconds until the white chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Coat the cereal mix: Pour the melted white chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the cereal and pretzel mix. Gently stir to evenly coat all the pieces without crushing the cereal.
  4. Dust with powdered sugar: Add 3 cups of powdered sugar on top of the coated cereal mixture in the bowl. Seal the bowl with its lid and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds or until the powdered sugar fully coats the cereal mixture evenly.
  5. Add remaining candy and store: Once the mixture has cooled, fold in the remaining 1/4 cup of Easter M&Ms and 1/4 cup of jelly beans. Transfer the Easter Bunny Bait to an airtight container. It can be stored for up to two weeks, making it a perfect make-ahead holiday treat.

Notes

  • Ingredient Tips: Feel free to substitute the Easter candies with any other candies of your choice to customize the snack to your preference.
  • Prep Tips: If the cereal isn’t fully coated, you can add a little more powdered sugar. Some peanut butter brands have higher oil content, which may require more powdered sugar to properly coat the mixture.
