Description
This hearty Crock Pot Beef and Noodles recipe features tender chunks of slow-cooked chuck roast simmered in a flavorful broth with onions, garlic, and seasoning, combined with homestyle egg noodles for a comforting, satisfying meal perfect for any day.
Ingredients
Scale
Beef and Broth
- 1–2 pound chuck roast
- 2–3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 Tablespoon steak seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 4 cups water
- 4 teaspoons Better than Bouillon (concentrated beef stock)
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Noodles and Finish
- 16 ounce bag dried homestyle egg noodles
- ½ cup heavy cream (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chuck Roast: Season the chuck roast evenly with steak seasoning, salt, and pepper. This enhances the beef’s flavor base before cooking.
- Sear the Beef: Heat 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the chuck roast on all sides until it develops a rich, caramelized crust. This step locks in juices and adds deep flavor.
- Add Ingredients to Crock Pot: Transfer the seared roast to the crock pot. Add the finely diced onion, minced garlic, water, Better than Bouillon, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir gently to combine the broth ingredients.
- Slow Cook the Beef: Cook on low for 7-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the beef is tender and easily shredded.
- Shred the Beef: Remove the roast from the crock pot and shred with two forks. Return shredded beef to the crock pot, stirring to incorporate into the broth.
- Add and Cook Noodles: Add the dried homestyle egg noodles to the crock pot. Cook on high without the lid for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender and have absorbed flavors from the broth.
- Finish with Cream: Stir in the ½ cup heavy cream if using, for a rich, creamy finish. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Ladle the beef and noodles into bowls and enjoy this comforting, flavorful meal hot.
Notes
- For best results, sear the beef to develop flavor, but you can skip for convenience.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking to reduce liquid.
- Heavy cream is optional, but adds a creamy richness to the dish.
- Use homestyle egg noodles for ideal texture; regular egg noodles or wide pasta can be substituted.
- Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
