Description

This creamy buffalo chicken dip is a perfect appetizer for parties and gatherings, combining shredded chicken with cream cheese, ranch dressing, hot sauce, and cheddar cheese, slow-cooked to melty perfection. It’s rich, flavorful, and easy to make in your slow cooker, offering a comforting and spicy dip that pairs wonderfully with chips, celery, or crackers.

Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 16 ounces cream cheese, cubed (full fat)
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 4 cups cooked shredded chicken breast
  • ¾ cup ranch dressing
  • ½ cup hot sauce (Frank’s Redhot Sauce preferred)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (preferably freshly shredded from the block)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the slow cooker: Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker or use a slow cooker liner for easy cleanup.
  2. Add cream cheese and chicken broth: Place the cubed cream cheese and chicken broth into the slow cooker. This mixture will create the creamy base for the dip.
  3. Mix in shredded chicken: Add the cooked shredded chicken breast to the slow cooker and stir gently to combine with the cream cheese and broth.
  4. Add flavorings: Pour in the ranch dressing and hot sauce (preferably Frank’s Redhot Sauce) and stir thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are evenly mixed.
  5. Add shredded cheddar cheese: Fold in 1 ½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese, which adds a wonderful cheesy flavor and texture to the dip.
  6. Cook the dip: Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on low heat for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally to help the cheese melt evenly and the ingredients to blend into a smooth, creamy dip.
  7. Final stir and serve: Once the dip is bubbly and melted, give it a final stir and transfer it to a serving bowl if desired. Serve warm with chips, crackers, celery sticks, or your preferred dipping items.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheddar cheese for best melting and flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce to your desired spice level.
  • For a thicker dip, cook longer uncovered for the last 15 minutes to evaporate some moisture.
  • This dip can be kept warm on the slow cooker’s warm setting for up to 2 hours before serving.
  • Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and can be reheated gently in the microwave or on the stovetop.
