Description

Celebrate the holidays with these delightful Christmas Wreath Cookies, made from buttery marshmallow and cornflake clusters, dyed a festive green and decorated with red candies to resemble a traditional holiday wreath. These no-bake treats are quick to prepare, fun for family activities, and perfect for sharing at holiday parties.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
  • 30 large marshmallows
  • 6 drops green gel food coloring or 1 1/4 teaspoons liquid green food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix-ins and Decorations

  • 5 cups cornflakes
  • 1 bottle of red hot candies or 1/2 cup red candy coated chocolates such as mini M&M’s
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Lightly coat a baking sheet with cooking spray to prevent sticking and set aside.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt the 1/2 cup butter over low heat. Add the 30 large marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Add color and flavor: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 6 drops of green gel food coloring (or 1 1/4 teaspoons liquid green food coloring) and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until evenly combined.
  4. Mix in cornflakes: Gradually add in 5 cups of cornflakes, gently folding them into the marshmallow mixture until fully coated but not crushed.
  5. Shape wreaths: Lightly grease your hands with cooking spray and take portions of the mixture to shape into small wreath rings on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Decorate: Press red hot candies or red candy-coated chocolates evenly around each wreath to mimic holly berries.
  7. Set and serve: Allow the wreaths to cool and set at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving or storing in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Use cooking spray on your hands when shaping the wreaths to prevent sticking.
  • If you don’t have green food coloring, you can substitute with natural alternatives like spinach juice but expect a different taste.
  • Customize your wreaths by adding other edible decorations such as mini chocolate chips or colored sprinkles.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
  • These wreath cookies are a kid-friendly, no-bake dessert perfect for holiday parties and gift-giving.
