Description

Butter Toffee Pretzels are a deliciously addictive snack featuring crunchy mini pretzel twists coated in a rich, buttery toffee sauce and sprinkled with English toffee bits. This easy-to-make treat combines sweet and salty flavors, perfect for parties, holidays, or anytime you crave a sweet snack with a satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Snacks

  • 16 ounces mini pretzel twists

Toffee Coating

  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter, sliced into pats
  • 5 tablespoons light corn syrup (not to be confused with dark corn syrup)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

Topping

  • 8 ounce package Heath English toffee bits, divided

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and set aside.
  2. Combine toffee ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the light brown sugar, salted butter pats, and light corn syrup. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir constantly until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves, bringing the mixture to a boil.
  3. Boil toffee mixture: Allow the mixture to boil for about 3 to 4 minutes without stirring to reach a smooth consistency. Remove from heat immediately once boiling time is complete to prevent burning.
  4. Add vanilla and baking soda: Quickly stir in the pure vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will foam and lighten in color due to the baking soda reaction; stir until fully combined.
  5. Mix pretzels with toffee: Immediately pour the hot toffee mixture over the mini pretzel twists in a large mixing bowl. Use a spatula or wooden spoon to gently fold and coat all the pretzels evenly with the toffee sauce.
  6. Transfer to baking sheet: Spread the coated pretzels in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet to cool and set.
  7. Add toffee bits topping: While still warm, sprinkle half of the Heath English toffee bits evenly over the pretzels on the baking sheet. Allow to cool completely until the toffee hardens and the toffee bits adhere to the pretzels.
  8. Serve and enjoy: Once cooled and set, transfer the Butter Toffee Pretzels to a serving bowl or airtight container for storage. Save the remaining toffee bits for extra snacking or garnish as desired.

Notes

  • Use light corn syrup for best results; dark corn syrup will alter the flavor and color.
  • Be careful when handling the hot toffee mixture, as it can cause severe burns.
  • Store the finished pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week to maintain crispness.
  • You can add chopped nuts like pecans or almonds to the topping for extra texture and flavor.
  • For a festive touch, sprinkle with sea salt or drizzle with melted chocolate once cooled.
